Real Madrid had a Wednesday night they’ll want to put behind them and never mention again. Playing their first match of the Champions League, Zinedine Zidane’s side went 3-0 down to Shakhtar Donetsk within the first half.
They brought that back to 3-2 but the overall performance was poor and it’s raised further doubts around how strong the current team can be this season.
Barcelona have also had ups and downs so far this campaign, and are still rocking from the Lionel Messi drama over the summer. With presidential elections on the horizon and a general feeling of uncertainty, they’ll want to go on a good run so it’s only good football being talked about.
Marca report there’s now a chance Jordi Alba could be involved. Injured against Sevilla on October 4th, Alba returned to full training on Thursday morning and is therefore available.
The Spanish newspaper states it’s now down to manager Ronald Koeman and the Barcelona medical department to work out whether it’s worth Alba taking part, and presumably to decide how long he’d be able to play for.
