Newcastle United may want to pause their interest in Valencia’s Javi Guerra, with the 22-year-old in the midst of a poor run of form.
Estadio Deportivo cover the midfielder today, and how he was recently ‘booed off the pitch’. They explain that Guerra is working to rediscover his best form after a lacklustre season.
The newspaper states that there is genuine concern at Valencia regarding Guerra’s recent performances. The midfielder is supposed to be a key player, particularly in the current system, but his impact on the game has ‘noticeably decreased’.
His poor performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Valencia fans either. In fact, in the last match against Sevilla he was booed off the pitch.
He remains a regular starter under Carlos Corberán, who is trying everything possible to help him regain his best form. The pair have held several meetings, which are yet to yield any positive results.
All of this doesn’t appear to have put off Newcastle. Sources in England have claimed that they continue to monitor him. In fact, scouts have been sent to the Mestalla to watch him play live. This monitoring is ongoing.
Newcastle, though, would be wise to hold off. Guerra’s form certainly doesn’t encourage a big transfer move in the January window.
