Celtic favourite Mikael Lustig could be set for a ‘bomb’ appointment as the new sporting director at Västerås SK.

That’s according to Expressen. They report that the former Celtic man could be in line for a major promotion at the Swedish club.

It all revolves around manager Kalle Karlsson, who is being targeted by Hammarby. They’re on the hunt for a new manager and want him in the role. AIK are also interested in the VSK man. In fact, he’s met with both clubs.

He is manager and sporting director at the club, stepping up as the latter in 2023. If he departs, a replacement will be needed. And Expressen have been told that Lustig is one of the candidates for the position.

Lustig been close to the men’s team of late, working with them at the training ground. He’s eyeing a return to club life in some form. The sporting director job could be ideal.

The former Celtic man is currently one of several candidates being considered. But he is being thought about nonetheless, particularly if Karlsson were to depart this winter.

Naturally, should he get the job and impress, a future at Celtic Park will become a possibility in the long run.
