Chelsea seem to have now joined the Kylian Mbappé saga.
That’s today claimed by Spanish outlet Cope, who features an interesting update on the weird situation lived by the Paris Saint Germain star.
The outlet explains that Mbappé is set to charge the club for the €60m they’re set to owe him as a ‘loyalty bonus’.
That clause is obviously related to his stay at the club, but even though he may still leave them this summer, it refers to him being there by the 1st of August, which is clearly happening.
Since that payment would be done in instalments during the season, that could be a way for him to force his way out. That would be a message from the player telling that if they allow his transfer, he could give up on that bonus.
Cope then explains Chelsea’s interest, claiming that Blues’ owner Todd Boehly ‘has called’ PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
It’s claimed the American businessman wanted to ‘open a negotiation’ for the transfer.
It’s not clear whether the clubs managed to find a deal, as it seems Chelsea are just joining the mess to see if they find a good opportunity to make that signing.
They add that, at the end of the day, any agreement between the Blues and Paris Saint-Germain will be redundant if Mbappé doesn’t agree to move to Stamford Bridge.
