Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder João Gomes were both removed from the Brazil’s U-20 national team squad.
As communicated by the CBF, both players got injuries in their Premier League clashes at the weekend and won’t be able to travel for the international break.
Danilo had a left thigh injury in Nottingham Forest’s match against Chelsea on Saturday, while João Gomes left Wolves’ game against Crystal Palace complaining about ‘strong pain’ on his right knee.
For their places, Brazil called up Fluminense’s Alexsander and Corinthians’ Gabriel Moscardo. The national team are playing two friendlies against Morocco, with the first one taking place on Thursday.
This is the so called the pre-Olympic national team, with players fighting for their places in the squad which will be in Paris next year, so Danilo and João Gomes will surely be willing to be back as soon as possible to show they deserve to be in that list.
For now, there’s no information on whether those players will have to be sidelined by Nottingham Forest and Wolves after the international break.
