When Rasmus Kristensen pushed to leave Leeds United following their relegation, the move to AS Roma was one he was very happy with.
A loan was organised between the two clubs, allowing the Dane to leave Elland Road and get some European football under his belt, as the Serie A side are competing in the Europa League.
However, Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Monday that the Leeds loanee could be excluded from the club’s squad for FFP reasons.
AS Roma saw some restrictions placed on them ahead of this season, and they were limited in the amount of money they could invest.
They are currently trying to calculate the cost of transfers, depreciation of players, wages added to the squad and any commissions given to agents to see where they stand.
In turn, this means they may only be allowed add five players to their Europa League squad in comparison to who they had last season, despite seven players leaving and seven new faces arriving.
As such, they are looking at their squad and trying to work out who count as ‘expendables’, with Corriere dello Sport stating the likeliest two are Rasmus Kristensen and Sardar Azmoun.
For the Leeds man, it’s because AS Roma already have Rick Karsdorp and Zeki Celik at right-back, meaning they can technically do with him.
A blow for him if it happens, and certainly not what he will have wanted when he chose to move to Italy when he left Elland Road.
