Blackburn Rovers are edging close to securing a deal for RWD Molenbeek’s Makhtar Gueye this summer.
That’s at least what reliable Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide more updates on this case.
He claims Blackburn Rovers have ‘reached [an] agreement’ with RWD Molenbeek to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent transfer.
Tavolieri adds the striker is currently undergoing medical tests with Blackburn Rovers and will ‘immediately’ sign the contract with them. This shows the deal is advanced and his move to Ewood Park can be made official in a short time.
There’s no mention of the fee the Championship side are offering, but it may not be too high, considering RWD Molenbeek have been relegated to the second division in Belgium.
The Senegalese has two years left on his deal and Transfermarkt currently values him at €2m.
Gueye joined RWD Molenbeek from KV Oostende for a reported €3m in July 2023.
The striker managed 11 goals and two assists from 35 games last season, and will now face a new adventure at Blackburn Rovers.
