Blackburn Rovers signed Moussa Baradji on loan from Yverdon-Sport towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Prior to joining Valérien Ismaël’s side, there were claims of Sunderland interest in the 25-year-old. The Premier League side had held talks over a move, but moved on to different targets after their consideration.

This allowed Blackburn Rovers to secure the midfielder. Africa Foot now have a report on the player and his future at Ewood Park beyond this season.

A few weeks after arriving at the Championship side, Baradji went under the knife for a pre-existing injury.

He spent over two months on the sidelines and made his Blackburn Rovers debut against Preston North End in November. Baradji came off the bench and since then has been featuring regularly under Valérien Ismaël.

Ismaël has started him in the last three Championship matches. This clearly shows the player has been able to convince the manager and the midfielder has started to regain his form at Blackburn Rovers. The 25-year-old’s displays have also pleased the English club.

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that they have secured a purchase option as part of the loan deal.

Blackburn Rovers would secure player until 2028

According to the report, they are preparing to exercise the purchase clause to buy him. There’s no mention of the fee needed to make Baradji’s stay permanent, but given his Transfermarkt value is €2m then it’s unlikely to be too high.

The Championship side have already started negotiations with the Swiss club to retain the midfielder. Moussa Baradji would then be secured by Blackburn Rovers until 2008.

These are positive indications for Baradji to continue at Blackburn Rovers in the near future. He has played 12 Championship matches and even scored two goals for Ismaël’s side.

The Lancashire club are currently 20th out of 24 in England’s second division and in danger of being dragged into a relegation scrap.
