Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton Diaz is on his way to Spain this summer, according to local reports.
Journalist Nacho Sanchis writes that the striker’s move to Villarreal is now ‘closed’, as he’s even signed a contract already.
The story claims that the 23-year-old, whose contract with Blackburn Rovers expires at the end of the season, agreed to a four-year deal with the La Liga side.
It’s said that his medical tests were done during the Christmas period, and the contract was signed in recent weeks. Now, he’s said to be looking for a new house to live in.
Sanchis even claims that Brereton Diaz is set to have a big salary at Villarreal, and that means the club are putting big expectations on him for next season.
Brereton joined Blackburn in a transfer from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2018. He first moved on a loan deal and then the switch was made permanent for €8.3m.
It’s been a while since he started drawing the market’s attention, but his form this season, added to his contract situation, is why things got more intense lately. And with the chance of having him on a pre-contract, Villarreal took the steps to guarantee the signing.
