Having lost Ben Brereton Díaz on a free to Villarreal this summer, it’s only natural to see Blackburn Rovers look around the transfer market for some offensive reinforcements.
Niall Ennis has already arrived from Plymouth Argyle on a free, but he isn’t the only one the Ewood Park club are targeting.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno bring a rather surprising piece of news on Tuesday, as they claim Blackburn are moving for a young Italian striker contracted to Napoli.
His name is Giuseppe Ambrosino, who spent last season away from the Serie A side on two separate loans, first at Como and then at Cittadella.
The first loan didn’t go to plan, as he only made four appearances, scoring one goal, but there’s no denying the second saw him play a bit more, as he ended up making 15 appearances for AS Cittadella, scoring one goal and assisting another two.
The potential is clearly there, and Blackburn scouts have identified it, which is why Corriere del Mezzogiorno claim the Championship side have made an offer of a loan with an ambitious option to buy that would become compulsory if the club were promoted to the Premier League.
However, they add that Catanzaro in Serie B are also pushing to get the youngster on loan, meaning there is competition for the player’s services.
