Blackburn Rovers are making a late attempt for the signing of Viking defender David Brekalo, according to claims from Norway.
TV2, relayed by Arilas Ould-Saada, writes that the Championship side ‘jumped into a late bid’ for the 25-year-old.
The bid made by Blackburn comes at a very interesting time, because earlier today, the local media had been speaking of Orlando City’s attempt to sign Brekalo.
It had been said the MLS side were in ‘final negotiations’ to get the defender signed from Viking, as they were speaking about a £2.5m deal.
Even the player had been told by his club that he was going to be sold, with final details getting finalised, and it now seems that Blackburn jumped into the situation.
Rover’s attempt is seen as an advantage for Viking, with Ould-Saada claiming that the Norwegian club now have ‘better cards’ to negotiate his departure.
It remains to be seen whether the English club are putting more money on the table, or if there’ll be a very late auction for the Slovenian player.
