Since only the top clubs from the Premier League regularly have scouts watching games in Portugal, it’s always interesting to see a different side showing up at local matches.

That’s why we’re surprised to see Blackburn Rovers named today in the list of those who had officials at the game between Benfica and Boavista.

According to newspaper O Jogo, the Championship side were one of the clubs who watched a 3-1 win from the Eagles, who confirmed their place at the top of the league table.

There’s no information on who Blackburn were keeping an eye on, even though their visit is very likely to mean a transfer plan for the upcoming windows.

Benfica had several talents doing well last night, with the likes of Lucas Veríssimo, Nicolas Otamendi, Julian Weigl, Rafa Silva and Darwin Nunez all doing fine. However, all of those players are well rated in the transfer market and it’s hard to imagine any of them moving to the Championship, or a newly promoted Premier League club, anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Boavista had the hard task of playing the Eagles at the Estádio da Luz and couldn’t offer a lot of danger. The away side counted on a good performance from midfielder Gustavo Sauer, who had a few good long shots, scoring from one of them.

At this stage, we can only guess those who may have caught the eyes from Blackburn’s officials. Hopefully the Portuguese media will soon come up with stories about Rovers interest in either Benfica or Boavista players.
