Birmingham City have made a bid for Gil Vicente midfielder Kanya Fujimoto and the deal is moving towards an advanced stage.

That’s according to journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto, who says that a deal for the 25-year-old is expected to be finalised soon.

Birmingham are expected to have another busy summer of transfer business after securing their return to the Championship as League One champions this season.

The Blues are very much on the up and after spending €35m on transfers this season, spending big on the likes of Jay Stansfield, who arrived from Fulham for €17.8m, Christoph Klarer and Willum Thór Willumsson.

Another big summer is expected after their return to the Championship, and it appears that Fujimoto could be among the first arrivals.

Sousa-Pinto reports that Birmingham have made a bid for the midfielder and while a deal is not finalised as yet, negotiations are moving towards the advanced stages. In other words, a deal is progressing quickly.

He states that the clock is ticking on the deal, and it is a case of ‘step by step’ and getting closer to being completed.

There is no mention of values involved but Fujimoto’s contract with Gil Vicente expires this summer, so it is safe to assume he will be arriving at Birmingham on a free transfer.
