Birmingham City have submitted an ‘official offer’ to sign Phil Neumann from Hannover 96, reports Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg.
According to the claims, the English club have already secured a verbal agreement for the transfer. Plettenberg doesn’t make it clear whether that verbal agreement is with the player, so regarding his personal terms, or with the German club.
Presumably it’s the former because he goes on to say that Hannover have rejected the Birmingham City approach.
The bid is put at €4m and there’s potential bonuses involved, although again it isn’t clear whether those bonuses would be on top of that figure or part of it.
Regardless, Hannover have knocked the approach back and as it stands they want to sell the 27-year-old. Whether their position regarding the central defender could change with a better offer isn’t made clear, but it’s certainly something worth trying for Birmingham City.
Neumann has a contract with Hannover 96 lasting until June 2025, so there’s clearly some pressure over his future with the club.
