With Real Madrid this week completing what should be one of the biggest transfers of the summer window, the German media now writes about the details of Jude Bellingham’s exit from Borussia Dortmund.
As Sport Bild features a story talking about the money the Bundesliga side will make with the sale, there’s a mention of the share going to Birmingham City.
Borussia Dortmund are selling Bellingham to Real Madrid for a fee of €103m, and there’s potentially a further €30.9m if performance bonuses are achieved.
According to Sport Bild, 5% of that fee is going to Birmingham City, as the star’s training club. That gives the Blues €5.15m.
As Borussia Dortmund keep the rest, they must pay taxes and invest in some sectors of the club, and then save around €67m to reinvest in new signings.
Bellingham was part of Birmingham City’s academy and made his debut for the club at the age of 16. In 2020, the Bundesliga side spent €30m to sign him from the English club.
