Birmingham City saw a bid for Galatasaray striker Halil Dervişoğlu rejected by the player, who wasn’t interested in leaving Turkey.

That’s according to Kaya Temel, who say Birmingham and Dutch side FC Twente both saw efforts turned away by the striker, who ‘was not keen’ on either club.

Dervişoğlu initially joined the Turkish side in 2021, moving on loan from Brentford in January 2021 and seeing that extended for another year in the summer.

He returned to Brentford in June 2022 but was then sent out to Burnley, a deal that did not work out for either party.

He returned to Galatasaray on a permanent basis in the summer but has struggled to impress, managing just 14 appearances and featuring in 16% of the available minutes to date in the Super Lig.

They’re seemingly keen to move him on and Birmingham City, alongside his former club FC Twente, both made efforts to take him before the January transfer window closed.

Temel reports that the player ‘received offers’ from both clubs but he was ‘not keen on joining’ either club, particularly after Cedric Bakambu departed as well.

Thus, the late effort from both sides fell by the wayside and Birmingham were left without the striker signing that it seemed they wanted.
