Atalanta are keen on signing Birmingham City’s Jordan James in the winter market and this has been reported repeatedly in the Italian media.
On Thursday, Tutto Atalanta reported the Serie A side have reached an agreement with the 19-year-old and are sorting out the last details of the deal with the Blues.
TuttoMercatoWeb also state the Italian club have agreed a deal with the Birmingham City player and provide more details about that.
It’s claimed the agreement is for a contract until 2028, with an option for another year, worth €750,000 per season.
The Wales international has given his ‘total availability’ to La Dea, who have to sort out an agreement with the Championship side.
TMW say that in the ‘last few hours’, the Italian club have been evaluating whether or not to take the final step to secure the youngster’s services. That’s because of the size of the current squad, despite Gian Piero Gasperini needing a new midfielder this month.
Teun Koopmeiners has mainly operated higher up the pitch this season and could return to his preferred position in the middle once El Bilal Touré fully recovers from injury. In addition to this, Michel Adopo’s stay at the club beyond the winter market isn’t ruled out.
Therefore, Atalanta are ‘taking their time’ in their negotiations with Birmingham City for James.
Should they back away, then it will be unfair on the player after they’ve clearly spent weeks securing his agreement.
