Birmingham City are working on completing a deal for Palermo’s Kristoffer Lund, after making an initial approach.
Last season, the left-back was on loan at 1. FC Köln, who had a €3m purchase option. He made 33 appearances, but the Bundesliga side didn’t make his stay permanent.
The Dane has returned to the Serie B side and Birmingham City are ready to sign him this summer.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Denmark of Chris Davies’ side contacting Palermo. The English club have been negotiating with them to find an agreement.
There was no mention whether the Championship side want him on loan or a permanent transfer.
Update on Italy on Birmingham City pursuit
Giornale di Sicilia journalist Massimiliano Radicini now covers the latest, relayed by I Love Palermo Calcio.
He writes for the newspaper local to Palermo and in today’s edition, Radicini discusses the 24-year-old and Stredair Appuah.
The duo are set to leave Palermo and are now getting closer to moving elsewhere this summer.
Radicini claims the fullback is likely to leave, and Birmingham City will be his next destination if there are no last-minute surprises.
Lund is ‘increasingly closer’ to making a switch to St. Andrew’s. The negotiations are to sign him on a permanent transfer, and the operation is now in the final stages.
There’s no mention of the transfer fee or about the contract he will receive at Birmingham City.
What’s pending
Although Birmingham City are getting closer, they are yet to finalise the operation.
The English club haven’t fully agreed terms with Palermo and have to agree personal terms with Kristoffer Lund.
Massimiliano Radicini’s report suggests the Championship side shouldn’t have any issues for total agreement. This and Lund’s medical tests are left for Birmingham City to complete his signing.
