Birmingham City have launched a concrete attempt to sign Girona’s Jhon Solís in the winter market.
Chris Davies currently finds his side 14th in the Championship. Having conceded more goals than the majority of sides in the division, Birmingham City have have targeted the combative midfielder.
The Colombian is currently occupying one of three non-EU slots. Last month, claims from Spain stated Girona are waiting for his exit to sign Manchester City’s Claudio Echeverri on loan.
Mexico’s Tigres UANL have come forward to try and sign Solís. Birmingham City have now made an entry and have gone ‘all in’ to secure his services in January.
Birmingham City win transfer race
That’s according to Cadena Ser journalist Nil Solà, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report a major update about the Blues. He claims the Championship side have made a ‘very high’ offer, without mentioning the details of it.
Another journalist, César Luis Merlo, also took to X, to state Chris Davies’ side have made advances to sign the 21-year-old.
He claims the midfielder is set to play for Birmingham City, and they are securing his services on a permanent transfer. The journalist, like Solà, makes no mention of the fee the English club are offering to Girona.
Player travelling to join Chris Davies’ side

Merlo adds Solís will travel to England on Monday to undergo his Birmingham City medical. If he successfully clears these tests, the South American will sign a contract until 2028.
This indicates an agreement is in place between the Blues and the La Liga side. The transfer is now at the paperwork stage and the Midlands club are about to seal an incoming.
Jhon Solís hasn’t been able to truly fulfil his potential at Girona, but he’s shown enough for Birmingham City. The midfielder can play centrally or more defensively, and isn’t shy of being the worker in the middle.
