Chelsea made it to the FA Cup quarterfinal after defeating Luton Town 3-2 on Wednesday and hours before the cup tie, Roman Abramovich confirmed his desire to sell the west London club.
Earlier that day, Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss revealed he had been offered a chance to buy the Blues. He also made it clear that he alone will not look to invest on the English club.
Wyss made these claims during an interview with Blick and they now bring a latest update on the efforts made by him to buy the Champions League winners.
Blick have a report titled: ‘Swiss billionaire confident about Chelsea purchase’. Within the report, it’s explained the 86-year-old is ‘interested in buying’ the club. The consortium led by Wyss and American businessman Todd Boehly has found ‘additional partners’.
No further details on these ‘partners’ are mentioned in the report, but it’s explained ‘the team is complete’ and are already in negotiations with Abramovich. They want to ‘oust’ the current Chelsea owner ‘as soon as possible’.
⚽️ #Chelsea (1/4): Some background on Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss for my British friends. He certainly likes sports but has not had a great affinity for football. The fact that he could now be involved in a takeover of Chelsea comes as something of a surprise.

Blick adds the potential buyers are ‘confident’ progress can be made over the weekend and the ‘deal could be announced as early as Monday’, depending on the negotiations.
This report was written by Nicola Imfeld, who took to Twitter to provide additional details on why Wyss is keen to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.
“Mr. Wyss is a true westerner by heart. If it would be on him, neutral Switzerland would position itself even more clear in the political West. I think that plays a real role here. Wyss is driven by ideology,” Imfeld said.
⚽️ (3/4): … with apparent contacts to Putin, who is currently waging a war in Ukraine. Having the chance now to rid Chelsea of such a person, for whom Wyss doesn't have much respect, drives him. What does this mean for Chelsea?

“He sees Russian oligarch Abramovich with apparent contacts to Putin, who is currently waging a war in Ukraine. Having the chance now to rid Chelsea of such a person, for whom Wyss doesn’t have much respect, drives him.
“What does this mean for Chelsea? Wyss is in this aspect a typical Swiss. Cautious, humble, acting with prudence. He won’t see Chelsea as his toy & open his wallet. It’s certainly not in the identity of Wyss to ‘buy’ the Champions League. Keep in mind though that it’s not him alone bidding for Chelsea.”
