German newspaper Bild are now treating Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United almost as a done thing. Bild have been linking players as his potential replacement for a while, and today they have another big feature on the prospect of Andre Schurrle going to Borussia Dortmund.
Mkhitaryan to Manchester United is covered in a nonchalant way, and Bild say the transfer is set to be ‘officially announced’ no later than next week.
Schurrle currently plays for Wolfsburg, and Dortmund are said to have already made contact. The German newspaper have quotes from the player himself and he’s refused to comment on having a telephone conversation with Thomas Tuchel, but certainly made it sound like there’s something going on.
Dortmund are also interested in Karim Bellarabi, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen. Rudi Voller has confirmed Dortmund contact over that particular transfer but insists it’s not happening. Voller was the same when Chelsea tried to sign Schurrle, when he was at Bayer Leverkusen, and he kept to his word… with the German international having to wait until the next window for his move to London.
Bild reckon Manchester United are set to pay around €40m for Mkhitaryan, which is a figure pleasing to Dortmund. Given that the player’s relationship with the club has taken such a blow in recent months, and that he has just a year left on his contract, Dortmund appear quite happy about the business being done.
Regional newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten believe Mkhitaryan was all set to renew his contract, but was then so upset by criticism of his performances against Liverpool and Bayern Munich that he headed for the exit door.
Mkhitaryan is also keen, according to his agent Mino Raiola, and it would appear the signing has been handed on a plate to Manchester United for €40m. All that could go wrong now is if Jose Mourinho decides to turn his nose up at the prospect and sign someone else instead.
