As is often the case, German international Andre Schurrle has been dragged into proceedings. He’s a player who could in theory replace Mkhitaryan at Borussia Dortmund, and Bild say Thomas Tuchel has already initiated contact.

Bild say Mkhitaryan to Manchester United is now more likely, and they claim the club are only €4m away from a deal. That figure was mentioned by Bild on Thursday too, with them covering English claims of a €36m bid, and referred to their own idea of €40m being acceptable for Dortmund.

The newspaper say that as things looks right now, Mkhitaryan to Manchester United is likely in July.

Bild don’t appear to have much more to base their claims on other than assumption, and they don’t claim to. Comments from Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola appeared to firm up Manchester United interest, and at least made it clear the player would like the move.

The €40m figure as an acceptable price has come from the German media and spread around Europe, but, again, that may have been educated guesswork from Bild, and perhaps Dortmund don’t even fully know their pain threshold at this stage.
