Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son was linked with Wolfsburg on Tuesday by Sky Germany. Whilst Sky Germany have made many bold and often inaccurate claims over recent transfer windows, there looked to be a chance in this one because Son hasn’t exactly shone at Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino gave Son a lot of chances at Tottenham last season but he didn’t manage to become a crucial part of the team. With changes again this summer, Son may well find it hard to get as many minutes on the pitch.
A quick exit wouldn’t be a huge surprise, but Bild aren’t so sure about Wolfsburg. Headlining a piece ‘What’s going on with Son?’, the German newspaper ponder why and how Wolfsburg could do a deal.
They state that Son simply couldn’t be a replacement for Dutch striker Bas Dost, and the club are determined to keep Julian Draxler, so there’d be no opening there. Bild explain that with Tottenham paying €30m for the player, any deal would likely be very expensive.
It wouldn’t be like Spurs to happily accept a big loss. Maybe this is all teeing up the German media for a future Draxler to Spurs story, with Son playing a part.
