FC Union Berlin could sit down with Leeds United in January to discuss Brenden Aaronson’s loan deal, and whether it’s worth continuing it for the rest of the season.
That’s according to BILD, who say the American has been ‘the biggest disappointment’ among the German side’s newcomers this season and thus could be shipped back to Elland Road post haste.
Aaronson joined Berlin in the summer, taking advantage of a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave on loan following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.
His hope had been that he could kick on with the German side and establish himself in the Bundesliga, as well as the Champions League, where they were competing also after a superb campaign last season.
Several reports have indicated the club are deeply disappointed with his loan deal and BILD continue that today, while indicating they could open talks to end it early.
The newspaper say that the 23-year-old is ‘perhaps the biggest disappointment’ among the newcomers this season, with him only able to show his technical potential in ‘flashes’ at best.
That’s not enough to last long-tern in the Bundesliga and so the question now is whether there is any point in him remaining until the end of the season.
The newspaper says Leeds, Union Berlin and the player need to sit down and discuss that topic and if him continuing in Berlin ‘makes sense’, particularly as the Bundesliga side are looking for another attacking midfielder and his game time will be limited further if they find one.
They seem to be pushing for the American to be sent back to Elland Road, having come to the conclusion there won’t be any major improvement and it’s time to call it quits.
