Tottenham Hotspur’s attempt to keep Clement Lenglet from Barcelona seems pretty much dead by now.
With Spurs failing to reach an agreement with the Catalan side so far, the Catalan media claims it’s quite unlikely the clubs can move forward with the talks.
Sport today features a story claiming that as Barcelona work on their final departures of the summer window, Lenglet now entered a ‘delicate moment’.
Speaking of Tottenham, it’s claimed that even though the club wanted to afford his salary, they wanted to pay ‘practically nothing’ for the transfer.
That’s why the negotiations ‘cooled down’ and have since ‘broken down’. So even though Spurs were Lenglet’s priority, it’s ‘very complicated’ the negotiations will be reopened.
The player now seems closer to a move to Al-Nassr. They want to pay Barcelona €15m for the move, and the La Liga side are happy to take it. They just need to convince the defender of accepting their offer.
With Tottenham never making a big financial effort for the signing on the transfer fee, it’s clear they don’t even want to enter that auction.
