Following the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Leicester City decided it was time to move on from Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irish left the King Power Stadium after four years in charge and some successes, but it had become apparent that a change of direction was needed, with a new manager now expected to be appointed.

Who that is isn’t clear yet, but one of the men being looked at, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk is Adi Hütter, formerly of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Austrian has been without a job since the summer after a 37 match spell in charge of the former of the two aforementioned sides, and is looking for a job, preferably in the Premier League, which is great for Leicester.

How do we know that? Because he said so himself on Sunday in an interview with Kicker in Germany.

He said: “My big goal is the Premier League, we’re working on that. There may be one or the other option. There were several interesting enquiries last year, including from there, but that would have come too soon.”

Describing England’s top-tier as ‘the most interesting team in the world’, the 53-year-old continued: “There is no boring football there, it goes up and down. It’s hard to beat the top teams, but teams like Everton or Bournemouth from eighth up on the table are always going forward. It’s not about having possession all the time, so I think my idea of football is very good in this league, and could fit, especially since there are many fast players there.”

Whether Leicester end up approaching Hütter remains to be seen, but he is clearly making a case for himself with this interview, and it’s something the Foxes will have to think about.

Leicester currently sit 19th in the Premier League after 28 games, just one point away from 17th, leaving them 10 games to sort themselves out and remain in the league.
