Over the past couple of days, several sources have been reporting Arsenal’s strong chase for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Today, the Portuguese media has been more focused on what’s being said in Spain, with local reports claiming that Atlético Madrid also joined the chase for him.
Still, as Correio da Manhã writes about the player’s wish, there’s a line which should make Arsenal fans more confident about that possibility.
The outlet writes that following his time at Coventry City, Gyokeres is now ‘looking forward’ to a return to English football.
Arsenal are not alone in that mission, though, as Chelsea are also said to be keen on giving him the chance to prove himself in the Premier League
Coventry City sold Gyokeres for just €21m last summer, and he now has 36 goals and 14 assists for Sporting this season.
It remains to be seen how much will the Lions accept for this sale this summer, although it sounds obvious that they’ll get very high bids for his transfer, as he’s protected by a nine figure release clause.
It’s up to Arsenal to beat the competition, which has been only growing by the day.
