Everton may have stumbled upon some good luck. Last week there were claims in Italy that the club had submitted a €30m offer for excellent young Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Sport Witness managed to have it confirmed to us that the offer was genuine, but at the time it seemed very unlikely Juventus would sell. Bids come and go for Rugani, with clubs taking a chance to find Juve at a weak point, but the long standing line has been the player isn’t for sale.

Maybe things could change.

Thursday evening saw claims all over Italy of Juventus trying to buy Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli. The Turin club are very keen and even prepared to pay €94m for the player. They can cover that with their finances, so long as they sell some players.

Rugani’s names has been mentioned as one of the players who could go, admittedly not in most of the reports, but certainly a few. On Friday Tuttomercatoweb say AC Milan could also try and make a move.

On saturday Juventus confirmed the loan signing of Mehdi Benatia from Bayern Munich, in a deal which turn permanent.

It’s still a small chance, but it sounds like it’s worth Everton asking again.
