Davide Frattesi appears set to leave Inter Milan and Nottingham Forest can get a discount in a summer deal.
In January, the Italian came close to ending up at the City Ground. His exit depended on the Nerazzurri’s signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool but the Englishman stayed at Anfield. This was covered by Sport Witness, as Frattesi was in a desperate situation in the first half of the campaign.
The failure to join Nottingham Forest impacted the Italy international negatively. He’s started just one Serie A game since then, having been left on the bench in their recent 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona.
As the season draws to a close, Frattesi is a major candidate to depart the Italian champions.
Inter ready for discount
Gazzetta dello Sport take note of how Frattesi appeared resigned to his fate when Inter celebrated the Scudetto win at the weekend. He thanked Inter fans for the affection they have shown him since he joined from Sassuolo.
Now, he is set to depart. The report mentions Nottingham Forest’s failed attempt to sign him.
At that point, Inter demanded €30m to sell him permanently. Vitor Pereira’s side can now land him for ‘between €20m and €25m’.
This is because of the frustrating season he has endured. Inter recognise his value has dropped, with his current deal running out in the summer of 2028. This leaves this summer as the best chance of earning a significant fee from his sale.
Frattesi would want European football
Last season, the 26-year-old would’ve accepted a move to Nottingham Forest because they were offering European football. He is accustomed to playing in the Champions League since he arrived at Inter in 2023.
That is why a move to clubs like AS Roma or Juventus may appeal to him more. The Giallorossi are in a Champions League spot and Juve will also play in a European competition.
Unless Nottingham Forest offer Frattesi massive wages, it may be difficult to convince him. If not that, Italian clubs’ failure to pay the required amount can also hand them an opportunity in the summer.
