As Aston Villa fans may be aware by now, Beşiktaş love releasing an official statement.
To be fair to the Turkish club, their business structure and commitments to the financial markets, necessitates these announcements are made ahead of a transfer completion.
On Monday, Beşiktaş announced that they’d bought Tammy Abraham from AS Roma. The striker was loaned from the Italian club this season with an obligation to buy set on certain conditions.
Those conditions have already been met, but Beşiktaş didn’t have to buy Abraham until the summer. However, the €13m deal was brought forward to enable the player’s subsequent sale to Aston Villa.
On Tuesday morning, the Turkish club made another announcement. This time it was to confirm Aston Villa’s Yasin Özcan would be travelling to Istanbul today to have a medical and complete his transfer.

Beşiktaş have announced to KAP they’re in talks to sell Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa. These statements are only made when the transfer is agreed, it is not a simple announcement of preliminary talks.
The Tuesday afternoon statement reads: ‘Negotiations have begun for Tammy Abraham’s transfer to Aston Villa. Beşiktaş Football Inc. has informed the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that negotiations have begun for the transfer of our professional football player Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa.
‘Beşiktaş Football Investments Industry and Trade Inc. sent the following statement to the Public Disclosure Platform:
‘“Negotiations have commenced regarding the transfer of our Football A Team player Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham to England’s Aston Villa FC Limited club.”’
Confirmation will now not be far away.
