Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has given a long four-page interview to Portuguese newspaper A Bola on Friday, and talked about several subjects.

Despite all the generic questions like ‘how is it to work with Guardiola’, ‘will only the Manchester clubs fight for the title’, or ‘who impresses in training’, Silva turned out to say interesting things about his personal life and the move to Manchester.

After that traditional question about the English weather, Silva made sure to say how nice the city actually is, as he seems to be liking it pretty much.

“I’m really enjoying the city, although it’s a lot colder than I was used to in Lisbon and Monaco,” Bernardo Silva told A Bola. “The people are very friendly, the centre of the city is relatively small and I know almost everything. There are many restaurants of different types: Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Brazilian, French… This new experience has been very good.”

“Of course it’s good to live in Monaco, it’s a fantastic place, it’s been a pleasure to have been there for three years, but I love Manchester in its own way. Before coming I heard a lot of people talk badly, but it’s a good city, with a lot to do, with a lot of movement, where one eats well.

“It’s true that the weather is not like that of Monaco or Lisbon, but it is fantastic to try new things. Lisbon, Monaco and Manchester are completely different realities, but, I repeat, I love meeting new things and I’m honestly loving it.”

After bringing up the Lisbon rivalry between Sporting and Benfica, A Bola asked Silva if it’s the same with the red and blue sides of Manchester: “I think it’s calmer than in Portugal, Spain and other countries in southern Europe.

“There is more respect among supporters, though rivalry exists. I’ve never had, for example, a Man United fan meet me on the street tell me to go somewhere or say something less pleasant. And in Portugal even though I’m not a Benfica player, it’s happened to me that I had sportinguistas or portistas give me a piece of their mouth.”

On the things he likes to do, the Manchester City player sounds a little different from other footballers we’re used to reading about: “I’m a normal person. I like all kinds of music: rock, jazz, fado (an old Portuguese type of music)… It’s true that I don’t enjoy playing PlayStation very much, I watch many series and I do other things.

“I like to read information, not necessarily books, but it depends. Above all, I like to be informed of current events. But people are different, I like to enjoy life in my own way.”

Bernardo Silva seems like an interesting guy, and, unlike Carlos Tevez, he’s managed to find the restaurants in Manchester.
