Everton defender Ben Godfrey has landed in Italy and is heading for a medical ahead of joining Atalanta.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say Godfrey landed at Linante airport this morning and is scheduled to undergo medical tests in Milan at the La Madonnina clinic ahead of his move from Everton.
They explain that the ‘lightning deal’ between Everton and Atalanta for the defender was unblocked in the last few hours, with the two-club ironing out the details of a €10m plus €2m in bonuses deal.
That agreement is now in place and Godfrey flew to Italy for the next stage of proceedings, landing at Linate airport this morning before heading for his medical at the aforementioned clinic.
Atalanta are keen to wrap up the deal quickly as they see Godfrey as an ideal fit for the squad under Gian Piero Gasperini, who could even use him in midfield if necessary.
Everton are happy to let him go too as he’s in the final year of his contract, hasn’t accepted the new deal on the table and can help in terms of PSR compliance before the end of this month too.
The matter is now progressing towards a positive conclusion, with TMW also posting a video on social media of Godfrey being collected at the airport ahead of his medical at some point today.
