Guglielmo Vicario has been struggling at Tottenham this season. There is now a chance that he departs the London side for a cut-price fee.

There have been times when the goalkeeper has been booed, with his ability on the ball having been called into question. His situation has attracted attention from Inter Milan, who have been pursuing him for months now.

Sport Witness have covered claims this month that Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio was at Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid two weeks ago. Initial contact took place for Vicario, who is seen as a replacement for Yann Sommer by the Nerazzurri.

There are now indications that Inter can try to sniff out a bargain deal for the Spurs player.

Spurs relegation can ease situation

Calciomercato insist the 29-year-old is at the top of Inter’s shortlist for possible goalkeepers. There have been other options like Elia Caprile on the table but the Italy international’s profile has surpassed all of them.

Vicario has expressed complete approval for a move to Inter. He is currently with multiple Nerazzurri players during the international break, having bonded with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco.

The report confirms that Ausilio was in London for Spurs’ last Champions League game. Also with him was Gabriele Giuffrida and they discussed the feasibility of a move for the Tottenham player.

The outlet are confident that the London club’s current valuation of the player is €18m to €20m. Yf they get relegated, the price could go down further.

Our take: Tottenham should push for higher

Vicario’s stock has dropped this season but his current deal at Tottenham runs out in 2028. For a goalkeeper, 29 is still a pretty good age. Considering his experience in the Champions League and Europa League, Spurs should push to earn more from his sale.

He also earned the first piece of silverware of his career last season, which should help in raising his valuation.

While Inter would hope for Tottenham’s relegation, there are still many weeks to go for that to transpire. That is why it seems like the Italian press are simply dreaming big and hoping things swing in Inter’s favour.
