As a possible transfer to Juventus seemed to be dwindling, Tottenham wanting Romelu Lukaku appeared to be a saving grace for the Belgian.
The forward is currently stuck at his club, where he isn’t wanted, and with Spurs having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, a new striker is likely needed.
That’s why a move for an experienced Premier League striker like Lukaku would make sense, but Corriere dello Sport believe he isn’t currently interested in moving to Tottenham.
The Italian newspaper explain that while ‘Saudi Arabia continues to call’ and ‘Tottenham reason with Chelsea’, the player ‘only has Juventus in mind’.
This is the striker’s current stance, suggesting that if Spurs were to come knocking on his door with a transfer offer, he would snub them.
They do wonder if that ‘will be the case until the end of the summer’, because we all know how fickle the forward can be, but, for now, it’s Juventus or nothing.
Corriere do suggest that talks between Chelsea and Juventus are still ongoing, since the Blues ‘would like Vlahovic’, but that operation will take time, with two weeks left in the transfer window.
Therefore, despite Tottenham seemingly wanting to gift Lukaku to Ange Postecoglou, they might have to wait a bit longer and rely on Richarlison as the sole striker for the time being.
