Romelu Lukaku’s desire to move to Napoli and reunite with Antonio Conte will force Chelsea into doing a deal with the Italian side this summer.
That’s according to Carlo Jacomuzzi, who believes the striker will get what he wants and force the Blues to accept a move to Napoli.
Lukaku is expected to be moved on by Chelsea this summer and bring an end to what has been a miserable second spell at the club for him.
Numerous reports have made it clear they want a permanent exit and to recoup €40m for the Belgian to help cover his remaining costs on their books.
Finding clubs to pay such a figure, and match Lukaku’s wages demands too, has been a difficult task, though, with only Saudi Arabian sides seemingly willing to do so as they continue to pluck players from Europe.
Napoli have been linked with a move thanks to Conte’s arrival as manager and the apparent departure of Victor Osimhen, who wants to move on and join a bigger club.
They don’t have the finances or the desire to pay what Chelsea want and have instead been persistently exploring a loan deal similar to the ones Inter Milan and Roma have agreed for him in recent years.
An agreement has not been forthcoming between the two clubs as a result, but Jacomuzzi believes that Lukaku will eventually get his way.
“Lukaku to Napoli? I have no direct indiscretions, but Chelsea have signed two other attackers, at this point they will try to earn something to cover their expenses,” he said.
“The player’s will will prevail in the end: with the help of the agents the players will go where they want So, for me, Lukaku will be blue.”
