Steven Bergwijn will choose Leicester City this summer if he has to pick between them and other reported options.
That’s according to Mario Been, with his comments relayed by FC Update, who believes the forward would pick Leicester over a potential move to MLS.
Bergwijn has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer, with Leicester City emerging as suitors over the last week.
Several reports have made it clear that they and Atlanta United are vying to get him out of Ajax, with the latest information from the Netherlands yesterday stating that Leicester are ready to make an offer for him.
Bergwijn would have a decision to make about his future if and when a bid arrives, with it yet to be determined if he would like to stay at Ajax or make the return to the Premier League after his failed spell at Tottenham.
And Been believes if it came down to a choice, he would pick Leicester over a move to MLS at this point.
“I don’t think the choice is difficult for Bergwijn. If he has a choice, he will go to Leicester. The MLS is not yet his level. England is a lot nicer,” FC Update report him saying.
The deal may be there to be done too as far as Anco Jansen is concerned, admitting he would tie a bid around Bergwijn if Leicester or anyone else offer €20m.
“I don’t think he’s a captain anyway. It’s that he has that band on, but he’s not a captain. For €20m I would tie a bow around him,” he added.
