One of the big question marks at Manchester United these days is the future of Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer, and while a renewal hasn’t been totally ruled out as of yet, it’s looking more and more likely that the midfielder will leave Old Trafford for the second time in his career.

Where he goes remains to be seen, but only a few clubs in Europe will be able to afford the Manchester United star’s wage demands, with Paris Saint-Germain being one of them.

Signing the France international and bringing him back to his home country would certainly be an achievement by the Ligue 1 side, and it’s perhaps the move he should make, as explained by his former teammate at Juventus, Claudio Marchisio.

Speaking to beIN Sports and relayed by Paris Fans, he said: “I often talk about it with Paul. I said it in another interview: his return to England was not wise for his progress. He went from the English league with specific characteristics to Italy, to Juventus, where he had a different progression. Unfortunately, I don’t think his return was positive for him, even though he had some important wins in the Europa League with Manchester United and the World Cup with France.

“I think he and his family would be very happy if he joined Paris Saint-Germain. Coming home to a big club, trying to win the Champions League like Juventus did. But me, on the other hand, I would be very happy to see him again in Turin, because he left a very good memory.”

To compare, Pogba scored 34 goals and assisted another 40 in 178 games for Juventus during his time there, while his statistics with Manchester United are a bit different: 39 goals and 51 assists in 227 appearances.

That’s not to say he’s played badly for the Red Devils, far from it, but few avid watchers of the Frenchman will disagree that he always seemed far happier in Italy than he ever has done in the north of England.
