Last summer, Aston Villa were keen on signing Marcos Acuña, but their approach was rejected by Sevilla.
Earlier this year, the left-back revealed the Villans had made an important offer, and the deal didn’t go through because of Monchi’s clash with the La Liga side.
The Spanish director left Sevilla for the second time in June 2023 and immediately moved to Aston Villa.
Vamos Mi Sevilla FC have a report on the Argentina international, where they talk about his asking price and Aston Villa interest.
It’s pointed out Unai Emery’s side came close to securing the defender’s services a year ago, and are still keeping an eye on him.
Acuña was part of the Argentina squad that defeated Colombia in the final to win the Copa America at the weekend. The report claims Sevilla have increased the fullback’s asking price after his latest achievement with the national team.
His deal lasts until 2025, and there’s no mention of any figures in the report. Back in May, Diario de Sevilla indicated Acuña’s valuation had dropped and the Spanish club regretted their decision to block Acuña from joining Aston Villa in 2023.
Last month, ABC said Sevilla are willing to sell the South American to Emery’s side for a lower fee this summer.
Taking all this into account, it feels like Sevilla are being a bit delusional increasing Acuña’s asking price now.
Especially considering he only played 96 minutes at the Copa America.
