Burnley have been strongly linked to Anderlecht skipper Steven Defour, who could be leaving the club for €7m.
Yesterday, Belgian website HLN reported Burnley have offered Defour €1.8m/season including bonuses, whilst Abu Dhabi based club Al Jazira have put a €3m/season contract on the table.
According to another Belgian website DH, Anderlecht want the transfer fee in one payment, and they haven’t received any guarantee yet from Burnley or Al Jazira.
DH say Defour’s representatives feel the player could play a key role in Burnley’s team, but are also charmed by Al Jazira. The player is also considering Burnley’s offer, but is slightly more inclined towards the offer from the Abu Dhabi club.
Anderlecht’s director of sport, René Weiler, is hoping to keep his captain at the club for another season.
He said: “I want him to stay with us. I’m glad that it shows he is very professional. I always feel his head is with us, although I cannot know everything that is happening.”
The 28-year-old had 3 goals and 100 assists to his name last season in 42 appearances.
