Bruno Guimarães has spoken highly of Brazil’s performance in their 5-0 victory over South Korea. The Newcastle United midfielder described current phase under Carlo Ancelotti as one of joy and confidence.
Speaking to Globo Esporte right after the friendly in Seoul, the midfielder underlined the team’s evolution. He also spoke about his satisfaction at being part of a cohesive and balanced side.
Guimarães, who has become one of Ancelotti’s most trusted players, once again controlled the rhythm of the game from midfield and delivered an assist for Chelsea youngster Estêvão.
His performance combined intensity and precision, reinforcing his importance to both Newcastle and the national team.
“Except for the match against Bolivia, at altitude, we’ve been on a really good run. It’s been a pleasure to be here. It’s beautiful to see how we’re playing, very well. Today was another great performance. I don’t think one player stood out, it was the team. And a team that wants to win can’t depend on just one player. Everyone has to play well, and today was a great collective performance,” he told the outlet.
The midfielder also explained how he set up Estêvão’s goal. “I think I’d told Estêvão before that their full-back sometimes ‘sleeps’, so I waited for his movement and managed to find a good pass there. I was really happy. Now it’s all about the road to the World Cup. I want to get there in the best shape possible.”
Brazil have now won four straight games, scoring 14 and conceding only once. With Guimarães in consistent form for club and country, Ancelotti’s side appear to be finding rhythm and chemistry ahead of next year’s World Cup qualifiers.
