It’s no exaggeration to say that among the numerous smart choices Wolverhampton Wanderers have made in recent years, hiring Nuno Espírito Santo is probably the best.
The Portuguese manager has had a transformative effect on Wolves, turning them from Championship also-rans to European contenders in the Premier League.
His work certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed in England, with many believing the Wolves boss will end up in a bigger job sooner rather than later.
The praise is not restricted just to England, though, with Espírito Santo also well thought of in Portugal, at least if this piece from O Jogo is anything to go by.
The newspaper explains that ‘Espírito Santo is the main face of this project’ at the club and how he’s had ‘most impressive’ results in his time there so far.
They say he’s an ‘idol’ in Wolverhampton and ‘his long beard seems to have magnetic power’ as it’s become an iconographic symbol, emblazoned on posters, scarves etc.
According to them, Nuno’s most significant plus point is how he has ‘made assets of the squad’, particularly players who were already there such as Conor Coady or Matt Doherty.
All in all, it’s pretty glowing appraisal of the Wolves boss, whose reputation continues to grow both in the UK and back home in Portugal.
