David Alaba is one of those players who is linked with a transfer every now and again, only to see the story die pretty quickly. Playing at Bayern Munich, the Austrian international is very happy indeed, and a move appears unlikely, so the rumours soon slide away.
Speaking to SportBild for their magazine this week, Alaba was asked about Leroy Sane’s recent transfer from Schalke to Manchester City, and whether he’d considered a move out of Germany before extending his contract.
Alaba explained: “I play in Munich in one of the best clubs in the world and feel very good there, so I have prolonged. I believe that the decision of Leroy Sane has nothing to do with the Bundesliga. He is a young player who still has a great career ahead of him.”
The balance in wealth between the Premier League and Bundesliga means many clubs have problems keeping their best players, like Schalke with Sane, but for Bayern Munich it’s very different… and David Alaba is staying where he is.
