Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka is now being pushed to Tottenham, with the German club clearly desperate to get rid of him.
Lothar Matthaus’ latest comments to SportBILD bring Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan into the equation after weeks of very weak links with Manchester United.
Goretzka has found himself out of the picture at Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany this season, with 11 appearances totalling 396 minutes so far in all competitions.
That’s led to consistent reports that Bayern would be happy to sell him if they can, particularly as the 29-year-old’s current deal expires in 2026.
Finding a suitor for the midfielder has not been easy, though, with clubs not lining up for him at this moment in time. Indeed, consistent efforts by the German press to make a thing of Manchester United being interested have failed to actually become anything.
Matthaus still mentioned Manchester United and Tottenham, believing that they’re in a group of clubs Goretzka could be well suited to.
“Yes: Inter Milan,” he said when asked if he could see a club that is perfect for him.
“The Italian league would be a good fit. Consistency is required there, toughness, physical play. I don’t necessarily see him at a top 5 club in Europe, but he can help all the other clubs.
“Inter, Man United, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid: He would fit in very well there.”
