Over the past week, we’ve seen the likes of Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion linked to Vitória Guimarães star Jota Silva.
The winger has been doing great for his club this season, and with both clubs watching him in action in the match against Porto at the weekend, he could turn into a real summer target for them.
Silva’s season with Vitória is today again highlighted by newspaper Record, who now points out the ‘jackpot’ the club could make with his departure in the summer, as there’s some ‘madness’ about his form.
Without mentioning Aston Villa or Brighton, the outlet writes that the player is targeted by clubs from the Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga and Serie A.
That’s why after demanding €10m for his sale in January, Vitória Guimarães now set his price tag at €12m, also having him protected by a €20m release clause.
Earlier this week, reports from the Portuguese media claimed that Brighton sent scouts specifically to watch Silva in playing against Porto. He had a great performance there, and was picked as the man of the match in his side’s win.
When local reports said Aston Villa also scouted that game, there were no direct claims about them watching Silva.
However, we must point out some advantages that Unai Emery’s side could have in a chase for him. Firstly, they share the same owners as Vitória, and they’re close to guaranteeing a place in the Champions League.
