According to a report in the Swedish media, Barnsley are closing in on a deal for Go Ahead Eagles forward Victor Edvardsen.

The Swede has been tracked by a number of clubs throughout this transfer window, but it looks like the player will be heading to the Championship side.

Aftonbladet have reported on Barnsley’s pursuit of Edvardsen, and they say the 28-year-old is expected in the UK today ahead of undergoing his medical with the south Yorkshire.

The Swedish media outlet say the forward will be joining Barnsley on a season’s long loan spell, before being officially presented, subject to his medical.

Edvardsen has been on the radar of Aalborg, Charleroi, Larnaca, along with Australian clubs this summer, but it seems Barnsley have won the race to the sign the attacker.

This season Edvardsen has been involved in Go Ahead Eagles’ three opening games in the league, as well as starting in their two Europa Conference League qualifying games. He’s contracted to the Dutch club until June 2026.
