Facundo Pellistri is on the verge of a loan move to Alaves, with the Spanish club beating heavy competition for his signing. Clubs in Italy and Belgium were also keen on the player, yet the 19-year-old was always likelier to choose a move to Spain, and that’s something the player’s agent confirmed last week.

Moving on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the current season, Pellistri will be aiming to get regular minutes for Alaves. Currently 18th out of 20 teams in La Liga, the club are in a relegation battle and will hope that the youngster can provide some attacking impetus.

There’s surely been some kind of assurances over game time, with that being the entire point of the move.

Spanish newspaper Sport are reporting the switch, and they state there’s also been interest in the player from Real Madrid and Barcelona. They don’t make it clear how far that interest goes, yet it’s likely the clubs are looking towards Pellistri’s longer term future, and it’s very unlikely they would have wanted a loan.

Alaves have managed to secure the deal thanks to their sporting director Toni Lima, who has good connections with Manchester United having worked previously as a scout for the Premier League club.
