Luka Jovic of Eintracht Frankfurt was initially on Barcelona’s radar and we have covered several reports discussing the Catalan club’s interest in the striker.

The Serbian international has scored 25 goals and registered six assists in all competitions and his impressive displays for the Bundesliga outfit have drawn attention from several clubs, including Ernesto Valverde’s side and Real Madrid.

Friday’s edition of Sport claims the Spanish champions have followed the former Benfica man for the last two years and believed his profile was interesting.

When the sporting leaders of the Camp Nou outfit began to hold talks with the player’s representative, the price was around €50m and during last month’s meeting in Lisbon, his asking price went up to €80m, which is when Barcelona decided to withdraw their interest in the 21-year-old.

It’s claimed the Blaugrana will maintain their interest in order to make the transfer expensive for another club.

Real Madrid have also met Jovic’s environment as they have been linked with him in recent times after his agent was spotted in the Spanish capital.

Sport explains that Barca and Real feel ‘used by the player’s agent’ over the transfer as the Catalan newspaper claims Jovic will not be playing in La Liga next season.

Jovic’s possible destination could be Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

Since Real Madrid failed to beat Barcelona in signing Neymar in 2013, Los Blancos have had manage to beat the La Liga winners for other South American talents, which includes Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

This time it looks like both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been played.
