Eric Garcia is currently away with the Spain national squad, with Luis Enrique showing faith in the young defender despite his lack of minutes for Manchester City this season.

On Tuesday he was pushed out in front of the media and met with an avalanche of questions about his expected summer move to Barcelona.

Garcia’s Manchester City contract expires at the end of the season and he’s refused to sign a renewal. A return to Barcelona has been on the cards for some months, with attempts made to get a deal done last summer.

That didn’t work, with City wanting more than Barca wanted to pay, and a move didn’t get off the ground in January either, because the Catalan club were without a president.

Wednesday’s edition of Sport says there’s now ‘full agreement’ on the transfer. The deal is set to be activated ‘in the coming weeks’, but that won’t mean Barcelona making it official.

An announcement will only come at the end of the season, something both parties have been keen on.

Garcia will sign a five year deal, and Ronald Koeman is said to be very happy with the transfer.
