Back in September, Sport reported that Barcelona ‘don’t lose sight’ of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and would continue to monitor him this season.
The La Liga side want to strengthen their midfield next summer and already have several names in their list.
A latest report from Sport states the Leicester star is included in the list and the Catalan club are keeping his case open.
Barcelona have been repeatedly linked with Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.
It’s claimed the duo have been ruled out because the Blaugrana cannot meet their asking price and are looking for affordable options. This is where the 26-year-old fits in as his deal expires in 2024.
Sport explain the Nigeria international was on Barcelona’s radar two years ago and were unable to get the deal over the line as Leicester valued him at €60m.
The Foxes won’t be causing any hindrances next year, however, especially if they fail to tie Ndidi down to a new deal.
It’s not ruled out for him to renew the contract and Leicester will try to retain the player, especially if they return to the Premier League.
Ndidi is also on the agenda of other clubs like Juventus and Sevilla. Despite this, Sport say Xavi Hernández’s side are ‘well positioned’ to secure his services this time around.
