Ronald Koeman’s situation at Barcelona is increasingly under doubt. The Catalan media have been carrying multiple reports detailing Joan Laporta’s anger with the manager, and it feels like a matter of when and not if he will be sacked.

That’s a view backed up in the Netherlands, with Friday’s edition of De Telegraaf explaining the Dutchman knows his days are numbered and that things were always going to be this way, given he wasn’t Laporta’s choice.

Koeman reportedly has a clause in his contract which will see him receive €12m should he be shown the door at the Camp Nou, and this is something he’s happy to fall back on when the time comes.

Sport reports that Barcelona have made a move for a new manager ‘in the last few hours’, and they’ve tried to tempt someone within the club to take the role. That man is Jordi Cruyff, and it’s explained that many have assumed he will be Koeman’s successor.

However, Cruyff himself sees things differently, and has knocked back the opportunity. He doesn’t see himself becoming Barcelona manager in the near future, and believes Koeman is doing a good job in very difficult circumstances.

Therefore, when the time comes to replace the current manager, it’s unlikely Cruyff will be the man.
